Fashion Attempts Day 2: What's a fashion blog? And how do I do one?

Lately, I've fallen in love with fashion blogs on Instagram. I love seeing the way women style clothes, and transform their wardrobes...and the way they frame their outfits against beautiful backdrops that accent their outfits. More than anything, I love the idea of fashion blogs as kind of a daily postcard, or snapshot, that you could come back to at a point in the future and see what your style (and you!) looked like at that time.

It would be so neat, when I'm much older, to have this collection of photos that reflected how I felt about clothes, how my neighborhood looked throughout the seasons, my favorite trends, etc....and even perhaps to have saved some of those clothes to pass on to my children/grandchildren and share my memories with them. Maybe that's overly sentimental, but then, so am I. I'd written two blogs in the past, mostly just for my friends and family about two specific summers I spent far from home in college. I've really enjoyed looking back at those blogs as time has passed and I've grown and changed, and I really like the idea of having that collection for more than just the summer.

That being said, I really have no idea how to write about fashion, how to take pictures of my favorite outfits, or anything like that! I just know that I like my clothes and I like other people's clothes, and I like looking at and sharing pictures of clothes. So, I'm just starting at the beginning and sharing my selfies of the outfits I wear every day. I'm figuring out how to take pictures with my tablet, having fun with silly poses, and hoping I can connect with other like-minded everyday fashion lovers. So here's my first day of fashion, and here's hoping my photography skills improve with time!

While like most girls, I'm a sucker for Louboutin Heels and other gorgeous designer items, I really just want my posts to reflect what I wear every day. In these photos, I have on an old Target peasant top, a Charlotte-Russe black fit and flare skirt, and Mary Jane platform heels that I found at Ross. My little red crossbody purse is one that I bought at an H & M in Germany when my husband and I went to Europe last summer. I'd probably wear a peasant top and an a-line ish skirt every day if I had enough of them...please send me suggestions if you love the same combo!

Shannon
